I do indeed remember you, Wan.
Hope all is well.

It sounds as though you went around the same time as me. From all that I have heard, since then, it has rather improved and service has been, if anything, over-eager (the opposite of what I suffered) and food pretty well-received.
Did any dishes in particular stand out or seriously disappoint?

I love seafood, so Stein's is just the sort of place for me. I am glad you enjoyed that at least. I must make the homage to Cornwall, there are a few places down that way I have my eye on.

Actually, coincidentally, only last week I was back at Le Gavroche. And I loved it! Have a read:

Hey FS, Not sure if you recall I was deliberating between Le Gavroche and Marcus sometime in Sept. Finally went to MArcus', just one week after it reopened. My experience was somewhat mixed as well but overall it was fine. The food were wonderful, although like you say didn't really blow me away.

However, I went to Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant last Saturday and I must say, the food is FANTASTIC! Much better than any Michellin starred ones in London that I've tasted so far. I enjoyed it so much that I stuffed myself with fresh seafood. Again, the service could have been better, a bit slow in getting attention of the waiters, or maybe it's just us being impatient but the whole experience lasted more than 2.5hours. You should give it a go.

I'll definitely go back for more sometime next year.

Thanks, FS
Will check them all out via their websites and other reviews, and then try to pick from there.
It's a bit of a challenge living x thousand miles away and trying to figure out what is good close to which tourist attraction :)

Hi J,

Well, to be honest, European cuisine is more my forte (at the mo ;) anyway). All three are good restaurants, however, I would like to recommend Helen of World Foodie Guide as a much more knowledgeable reference - http://www.worldfoodieguide.com/
She is an expert on Oriental food.

Regarding Mexican food, again, cannot be much help. I haven't tried these myself, but I have heard good things about -
Wahaca - www.wahaca.co.uk
Green & Red - www.greenred.co.uk
Crazy Homies - www.crazyhomieslondon.co.uk
Tacqueira - www.coolchiletaqueria.co.uk

Again, sorry could not tell you more! Let me know what you discover.

Off the subject for a minute, FS : between Hunan, Hakkasan and Bar Shu - which do you think has the BEST chinese food ?
I love spicy schezuan (sp?), love noodles and dumplings, love hot and sour soup, and, love, well, all of it ! Please help

And have you ever had good mexican food in London ??? I know I might have a craving for a quesadilla or chips and fresh guacamole and salsa one day while I am there. I heard about Cafe Pacifico, but would love your feedback --

Hope you are having a good weekend !

Hi Annie,
You have been quiet lately!
Regretfully, I have heard similar complaints from others regarding the service - although the restaurant consistently wins awards for quality of FOH:
